You are warmly invited to the preview of b1unt b1ade, a multidisciplinary arts project founded in 2024 by Jessyca R. Hauser, bringing together music, performance, video, and audiovisual installations. Exploring themes of grief, loss, desire, and rage through cross-disciplinary and collaborative practices, b1unt b1ade challenges the boundaries of genre and the notion of singular authorship.

As part of anorak studio, b1unt b1ade presents a preview of their music in an evening that combines live performance with a video installation created in collaboration with filmmaker Laura Hyppönen. Offering a glimpse into b1unt b1ade’s sonic and visual world, the evening serves as a prelude to their upcoming debut EP, for which Laura Hyppönen has created a series of scenes that visually embody the raw emotions of b1unt b1ade’s music.

anorak studio is a programme hosting experimental live-formats that challenge traditional formal limitations—including genre, style, canon, authorship, expertise, closure, copyright, censorship, and coherence. It serves as a communal space for artists based in or passing through Berlin to share and process ideas with peers and the broader public, through short residencies, learning and play, and spontaneous presentations.

Laura Hyppönen is an award-winning Finnish writer and director. Her films explore the irrational drives of human behaviour – the dark, murky, unconscious, mysterious. Dreams, nightmares, Eros, Thanatos. Hyppönen is an alumna of Berlinale Talents, the genre script lab Film Garage (Torino), Circle Fiction Orbit (Montenegro), HIAP (FIN) and Think Shoot Distribute (London), and a former fellow of the Bergman Estate (SWE) and Nipkow Programm (GER). Her debut feature LIVE EAST DIE YOUNG (UK) was nominated Best UK Feature at Raindance, Hitchcock d’Or at Dinard and sold internationally by Reel Suspects (FR). Her shorts, fashion films and music videos have screened internationally at platforms and fests including Vogue Italy, Kaltblut Berlin, Aesthetica (UK), Tampere Intl FF and HIFF.

Jessyca R. Hauser is a transmedia artist who works at the intersection of performance, music, text and video. They question the conditions of a contemporary subject between connectedness and isolation from a queer-feminist perspective. Focussing on blurring boundaries between private/public, fiction/reality as well as the performativity in relation to gender/sexuality and mental health, Jess’ background in music and theater is omnipresent in their art and they often work collaboratively. Their work has been shown internationally in art, performance and film contexts, such as Wiener Festwochen, Anthology Film Archives New York, Austrian Cultural Forum Tokyo, HKW Berlin, MUMOK Museum of Modern Art Vienna, Museum of Moving Images New York,,… Under the pseudonym b1unt b1ade they experimentally test the waxing and waning of emotional states.
