You are warmly invited to join us for the release concert/performance of Discoteca Flaming Star’s Hate Verses and Love Any Out of (90 Seconds) End, Ghost Notes Records. For this event, realised in cooperation with Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg, DFS will be joined by Thomas Lempertz, and will be followed by an afterparty with music selected by Laura Paura. Born out of the group’s experimental performance practice, the album brings together voice, bass, and live electronics in two distinct poems about love and hate: Side A – hate – was recorded at Ephemeroptera TBA 21 in Vienna and Altes Finanzamt in Berlin in 2015, while Side B – love – was recorded in Berlin and Gijon during 2017-2018.

Guided by a subtle rhythm emerging between electronic and analogue sounds, a reader’s voice – both piercing, and monotonous – beckons the listener through a set of intense evocations of the micro- and macrocosms we live in. Hate Verses and Love Any Out of (90 Seconds) End is about fences and wives, the rain and the internet, husbands and airports – and the Hate/Love in it all.

Discoteca Flaming Star (DFS currently and for this project consists of CGB, Sofia Lomba, WM, Sara Pereira and Thomas Lempertz) is an interdisciplinary, collaborative group that aims to create an inherently experimental space for artistic voices to intersect in their diverse approaches – searching for the limits in this method, whilst avoiding processes of formalisation. Creating spaces for experiments and displaced memories through conceptual, visual and musical transfers since 1998 – Discoteca Flaming Star is a love letter written in the present continuous, a love letter to thousands of artists.
