There is no identity without difference. But the unsettling feeling of being a stranger to yourself often gives rise to the question – what do we give up when estrangement becomes a fundamental condition for identification?

The Gemini Journal is a collection of conversations, close readings, videos, listening pieces, and stories that share a suspicion toward a wholesome understanding of identity. Instead, they introduce a polyphony of voices that speak to the complexity of identity from the perspective of artists, researchers, and curators.

The magazine is published as part of Gemini, a twofold exhibition and series of events curated by anorak and realised in cooperation with Akademie Schloss Solitude, Künstlerhaus Stuttgart, and Delphi Kino.
