anora[k]araoke Ep. 1

Reading followed by karaoke

curated by Judith Hamann and Jules Reidy

Friday, 16 February 2024, 7.30pm

Upcoming dates: 16 March, 19 April 2024

anorak // Gottlieb-Dunkel-Straße 43/44 (8th floor) // 12099 Berlin

You are warmly invited to the first iteration of a series of events curated by Judith Hamann and Jules Reidy, exploring the collective possibilities of community DIY karaoke.

Bringing together ideas around karaoke as a performance practice, you are invited to join us as we collectively examine a constellation of associated threads in practice: poetics of memory, dedicated amateurism, entanglement with failure, utopian horizons, and how we might build communities, solidarity, resistance and connection via the party.

Each session will begin with a response to this broader umbrella of ideas followed by karaoke. Our first session will start with a reading by Judith Hamann, while future iterations will be open for submissions for artistic or critical responses, encompassing media including text, film, and performance.

Come sing your hearts and hurts out with us.

Please RSVP to hello@anorakanorak.com. Numbers will be capped at strictly 50 attendees only based on order of RSVP. We ask for a 15€ solidarity contribution to participate. All earnings on the night go into anorak’s programme.
