Druing their Studio Residency at anorak Nicolas Helm-Grovas and Anna R. Winder will work on the translation, research and editorial preparation of a collection of texts by the Spanish video and performance artist María Ruido. The book, titled Sex and the Factory, will be published by b_books in Berlin in 2027. Sex and the Factory gathers theoretical essays, scripts and interviews from 1999 to 2025.
The texts focus especially on the relations between labour, gender and the image, and the changing forms of all three under capitalism. In them, Ruido develops investigations into the imaginaries of labour in postfordist capitalism, the mechanisms that construct memory and their relations to different historical narratives, and decolonial imaginaries and their emancipatory possibilities.
